Jyoti Reactive Diluent C is a mono epoxy flexibilizer and reactive diluent. It is compatible with Jyoti epoxy resins in all proportions. The flexibilized resin has excellent stability at room temperature as well as lower temperatures.
AREAS OF APPLICATION : JYOTI REACTIVE DILUENT “C”
- Jyoti Reactive Diluent C suggested for casting and potting applications, especially when sharp cornered metal inserts causes severe mechanical stresses and cracking
- Jyoti Reactive Diluent C is suggested in coating application for improved flexibility of cured film and lowering of viscosity of the mixture
- Jyoti Reactive Diluent C addition is also recommended for preparing laminating resin mixture for improved wet ability with glass fiber.
PROPERTIES OF CURED MATERIAL
Addition of Jyoti Reactive Diluent C will reduces the viscosity of the liquid resin which in tern helps in improving penetration during impregnation and also allows higher filler loading during casting or potting applications.
Higher filler loading in casting or potting mixtures reduces cost, improves heat conductivity and lowers the thermal expansion, shrinkage and exotherm. Jyoti Reactive Diluents C addition imparts flexibility to cured resin mass. This results in reduced mechanical stresses and improvement in impact and thermal shock resistance
APPLICATION METHOD
Formulating the Flexibilized Resin System Jyoti Reactive Diluent C in required proportion is first added to DGEBA epoxy resin and mixed thoroughly to give a homogeneous mixture. Hardener is then added to the mixture. Any type of hardener is suitable for DGEBA epoxy resin + Diluent C blends. Since Diluent C is a monoepoxy, its epoxy equivalent weight must be considered in determining the correct proportion of hardener for flexibilized resin system.
Additional quantity of hardener required for Jyoti Reactive Diluent C addition is indicated in Table 1. Liquid hardeners such as Hardener 1758, 17055, EH 1411 and EH 1408 are added at room temperature to DGEBA epoxy resin + Jyoti Reactive Diluent C mixture. Solid Hardener 1760 should be first heated to 95 to 100ºC to melt it and then added to DGEBA epoxy resin + Jyoti Reactive Diluent C mixture, which is heated to 60- 70ºC prior to the addition of hardener.
